One Week Left to Apply to Yale Program on Social Entrepreneurship in India

The Yale Global Social Entrepreneurship program links Yale students with social enterprises based in India. These teams will spend October 2014 through February 2015 working on a specific management challenge the SE faces.

Here's a full description of the program:

"Since 2008 the Yale School of Management has offered a course linking teams of Yale students with social enterprises (SEs) based in India. Teams of Yale students partner with mission-driven social entrepreneurs (SEs) to focus on a specific management challenge that the student/SE teams work together to address during the semester. Over the past six years, we have worked with leading and emerging Indian social enterprises engaged in economic development, sustainable energy, women’s empowerment, education, environmental conservation, and affordable housing.

The course will be offered again from October 2014 – February 2015. We are now seeking applications from social enterprises in India interested in collaborating with us in the course.

Five social enterprises will be selected as partners based on the following criteria:

Evidence of impact in their mission’s area of focus.
A clear articulation of how a student/SE team could help address a specific project or management challenge, leading to an increased capacity to serve the SE’s clients and enhance the SE’s financial sustainability.

Demonstrated capacity to work with a student team and to implement the recommendations.

English-speaking representatives.
Access to appropriate hardware, software, and the internet.

Between October 2014 and February 2015, each student team will conduct relevant research, engaging with their SE colleagues through weekly email and conference calls, culminating in development of a presentation and report addressing the management challenges they are exploring. In early January 2015, the students will travel to India to meet with their SE partners and work together on the projects. Then all the participants will convene for a two-day seminar (likely to be held in Bangalore) at which the SE representatives, students, faculty, and invited guests will hear and discuss the projects and explore issues of broader import to social enterprises in India."

To apply, submit the below application by July 21st. Instructions on how to submit and who to contact with questions are in the application.
