GSBI Alumni Solar Sister Is Looking For a Chief Program Officer

Greeting GSBI Alumni,

Fellow Alumnus Solar Sister is looking for a new Chief Program Officer to begin working in East Africa and Uganda. Here is a full description of the position from the official posting:

Position Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Program Officer will lead Solar Sister’s in-country programs in Africa (currently: Uganda, Tanzania and Nigeria, with expansion plans to other countries, including Kenya in 2015. Current operations have 46 program staff that are supporting over 850 Solar Sister Entrepreneurs in every corner of their respective country. S/he will be directly in charge of growing this sales network through deeper expansion within each country, broader expansion into new countries, and fuller development of product line and engagement of all participants. S/he will be responsible for all activities pertaining to sales, in-country strategies personnel, finance, partnerships and contracts. The Chief Program Officer will inform the chief executive officer, and ultimately the board of directors, of all program issues and accomplishments.

The Chief Program Officer will work closely with the CEO, CFO, Chief Collaboration Officer. The Chief Program Officer will have direct reports including the Country Managers,  and Director of Business Development. The Chief Program Officer will be responsible for all program planning, organizing, operating and staffing. S/he is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the program aspects of the annual budget in conjunction with the chief financial officer and CEO. Our ideal candidate will bring a passion for gender equality and the importance of women’s economic advancement, blended background of private and public sector experience, with a proven track record of results, demonstrated success in leading complex organizations and cultivating talent, and significant work experience in Africa. This role is based in East Africa with frequent travel to the countries we are working in and occasional travel to the US and other countries.
