For Kenya SEs: Invitation to Roundtable Discussions on Hiring/Talent in Nairobi

If you are based in Nairobi and are interested in the topic of social enterprise talent (hiring, managing, retaining, motivating, and training employees), then you are invited to attend an upcoming series of breakfast roundtable sessions.
On 10th February the Kenya Talent Breakfast was piloted in collaboration between Amani Institute, ANDE and edge.
The objective is to drive the conversation around human capital in the SGB space, foster innovation in answering “the talent question” and come up with collaborative solutions to shared challenges.

Participants from African Management Initiative, GrowthAfrica, Land’o’Lakes, Open Capital Advisors, Spire, edge and Aman Institute discussed shared challenges and shared achievements and learnings from the last years.

Topics of shared interest include:
- Truly harnessing diversity and individuals strengths;
- Retention of key talent
- Managing teams and effective delegation
- “Up the ladder” mindset vs. realities of lack of visible career paths
- Employee motivation and engagement
- Identifying the “right” person when hiring
- Skill building (from basic delivery skills and sophisticated tech skills)
- Building a culture of critical thinking and focus on client servicing
- How to balance giving innovation and freedom to the team vs. expected quality in the output

Given the positive attendee feedback, Amani Institute, edge and ANDE are planning to host monthly talent breakfasts, each starting with a short presentation a subject matter expert.
The events will be open to ANDE members and their investee/incubatee/grantee companies, which includes you as a GSBI-affiliated social enterprise.

Dates will be communicated - the most likely day is Wednesdays, 7.30-9.30am in the Kilimani/Lavington area.
To be informed of the dates, contact the ANDE East Africa chapter group through Mary Mwangi  (mary.mwangi@aspeninst.org

Any comments are welcome, please send to peterfella@amaniinstitute.orgmanuela@edgetalents.net and mary.mwangi@aspeninst.org
